Review: An unconventional film that crosses genres (murder / suspense / thriller / drama / fantasy), against the normal expectations and a strong emotional experience. Since the beginning informed when the main character was murdered and the killer, but they still remain on the edge of your seat and then was surprised by the revelation. The story fits between reality (before and after the murder) and real afterlife realm between heaven and earth. Although, tragically heartbreaking dark subject, the film is exhilarating, exciting and amazingly beautiful everywhere. As the credits rolled, I ran through a range of emotions and find aspects of ticked me long after the movie. It's hard to imagine why the film was widely criticized. I can only assume that this story does not closely follow the source material (I have not read the book) or viewers do not appreciate the story told from the perspective of a girl aged 13 years or cri, Ticos just being spiteful to a successful director (Directed by Peter Jackson and produced by Steven Spielberg). Pros: (a) original, imaginative, creative story / script. (B) an authentic, well-designed, engaging characters. (C) interesting and enjoyable from start to finish. (D) A work of art - both cinematographic point of view and perspective CGI / special effects. Definitely make sure saw in HD (Blu-Ray). (E) superlative movie stars: Saoirse Ronan, Stanley Tucci. (F) Solid Supporting Actor: Susan Sarandon, Rachel Weisz, Mark Wahlberg. (G) a subtle but powerful soundtrack. (H) Thematically rich and full of symbolism and metaphors.CONS (a) Children romantic relationships seem forced and just a little unbelievable. (B) The film seems heavily edited because of long runs. Certain characters, scenes and themes can be more concrete. (C) clairvoyant girl (Ruth) is a bit of a cliche? And one-dimensional. (D) adequate resolution target killers, but very rewarding.
