Review: Just back from seeing this in the Edinburgh Film Festival, and Q & A afterwards, the director, Debra Granic (looking eloquent and well beyond the ordinary that would like to thank the whole world and his wife to be here at Eiff) describes his film subjects scratch subjects difficult. Although he was referring to a version of Russian roulette game popular tablet (now there's an idea for a movie ...), it was an evocative description of Jacuzzi's hard disk American life served up here. Basic story? a combat teen to save family dependents him from imminent homelessness due to the actions of a father devwaye and now,-absent? felt both authentic and convincing, as was the way the community close to his side, both meting out violence and support of equal measure.Using tone gray and oppressive, all shot in film whole country in a gloomy forest, where jendr-bearded men all seemed to have just left the set of Southern Comfort and straggle all hair, weary world will face lined the women add the unspoken sense of reality harsh life here. I doubt they see many tourists in this course in the woods, and at the same time, it controls well aware of the movie, and if they did, they'd probably eat their stereotype. I love the use of economical and efficient in Bluegrass music folky-type, which cuts through and gave some relief, a feeling otherwise fairly persistent in subjects hopelessness.Although is a compromise expensive reality ; that for many of the superficial Hollywood sport fills our multiplexes, this is not a tough watches. At its heart, it is a good story, well told, and a great central performance (especially John Hawkes and Jennifer Lawrence) and an open-hearted sense of community here, in spite of bread of life. 7/10.
