Review: As the daughter of a Holocaust survivor, I raced to see this movie on Thanksgiving dai.Our hero, the girl, has a compelling personal history. Her brother died on the way they are placed in foster care. It also can read.Her stepfather became her allies when he learns to read. Then she befriends her neighbors, little boi.Added the MIC is that her foster parents hide a Jew. The girl is drawn to him, especially after he finds out his mother, a communist, probably became a victim Nazis.The Jewish youths supporting education with reading and writing lessons. When he gets sick, she says to him as a lifeline to keep you connected living.The historical context of the story is well documented with a night of broken glass and books burning.This movie is must-see for anyone like me who is forced to learn about the human and historical drama of the Nazi era.
